Key facts for Albania
Christmas is a public holiday, but New Year is the main secular occasion for business gifts.
How companies in Albania give year-end gifts
Albania has Muslim, Orthodox and Catholic communities and a strong tradition of religious coexistence; Christmas and both Eids are public holidays. In business, New Year is the main gifting occasion, a habit shared by most of the population regardless of faith. Companies send gifts and greetings in the last two weeks of December. Hospitality and personal relationships are central to Albanian business, so a gift presented personally, or with a personal card, is valued. Chocolate, coffee, tea and branded practical items are suitable. Cards in Albanian with a New Year greeting such as 'Gëzuar Vitin e Ri' are the safest choice.
