Key facts for Belize
Christmas is the main year-end gifting occasion.
How companies in Belize give year-end gifts
Belize is the only English-speaking country in Central America, and its business culture combines Caribbean and Central American traditions. English is the official language of business, though Spanish and Kriol are widely spoken, so cards in English work for most recipients and bilingual English-Spanish cards fit companies near the borders. The season follows Garifuna Settlement Day on 19 November, and companies give staff gifts or hampers before Christmas. Client gifts are typically food, wine, branded items and calendars. Imports clear customs in Belize City, and deliveries to outlying districts and islands take longer. Christmas in Belize mixes Creole, Mestizo, Garifuna and Maya traditions, so a neutral seasonal design suits most teams. Staff gifts are usually handed out at the office party in mid-December, and gifts for clients in tourism should arrive before the high season peaks.
